  2. Reflections – an annual art competition sponsored by National PTA; encourage your student(s) to enter!  This year’s theme is “Let Your Imagination Fly.”  We are accepting entries in the “Visual Arts” and “Literature” categories.  Entries must comply with the rules and be submitted to the Dimmitt front office by Wednesday, November 18th.  Here are links to the necessary forms:  Reflections Student Entry Form, Visual_Arts_Rules, Literature_Rules – .  Dimmitt’s winner will advance to the Renton Council PTA level, then, hopefully, state and nationals.
  3. PTSA Meeting – Everyone (member or not) is invited to our general PTSA meeting next Wednesday, October 28th at 7:00 p.m. in the Dimmitt Library.  Renton School District’s Executive Director, Community Relations, Randy Matheson, will be there to share the district’s plan to build two new elementary schools and the election bond measure on Feb. 9 that will allow that to happen.

Opportunities to Get Involved!

There are several needs/opportunities for your involvement at Dimmitt and the District levels, covering a variety of topics and time commitments:

  1. The Cookie Concert featuring Dimmitt orchestra, band and choir is scheduled for Wednesday, October 21st at 6 p.m.  “Cookie Managers” are needed from 5:30-7:30 p.m. to collect the cookies, guard them during the concert, oversee distribution after the concert, and help clean up.  If you are interested and available, please sign up on VolunteerSpot using this link –
  2. The Renton School District is looking for parent representatives to serve on the naming committee for the new Middle School.  They would like one representative from each current middle school and three from the new middle school service area.  If you are interested in serving on the committee, please email Principal Tracy Dyer at before Friday, October 16, 2015.
  3. Dimmitt would love to have parent input on our School Improvement committee work.  The commitment involves reviewing the minutes from our Monthly School Improvement Team Meetings, asking clarifying questions, and providing us with any feedback from a family point of view as needed.  Please email Principal Tracy Dyer at if you are interested in serving in this capacity .
  4. Dimmitt is looking for parent representatives to serve on the District 24 Credit Graduation Requirement Committee.  We are specifically looking for parents of 7th grade students.  The goal of the committee is to fully understand the implications of the new graduation requirements and to make recommendations to the Cabinet and School Board for the changes needed to ensure that our students are able to graduate on time and are career and college ready.  Please read the details below.  If you are interested in serving on the committee please email Principal Tracy Dyer before Friday, October 16, 2015.
The dates that have been set for this expanded committee are below. We have purposefully set more dates than we anticipate the whole group needing, to reserve time for possible subgroup work.  All meetings will take place on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8:00 pm in the board room at KEC.
